Mike Arthur

The 2014 season will be the second for Mike Arthur on the Forester staff and his 12th year of coaching at the collegiate level.

After graduating their starting quarterback, tailback, and top two wide receivers from 2012, the Foresters received significant contributions from several different offensive players in Arthur’s first season as coordinator. Four players led Lake Forest in rushing at least once and five recorded team-highs in receptions or receiving yards. Two players on that side of the ball were named Second Team All-Midwest Conference, including offensive lineman Tom Mitchell.

Arthur spent the previous seven seasons at NCAA Division II Virginia State University, where he spent time serving as the Trojans’ run game coordinator, offensive line coach, strength and conditioning assistant, and video coordinator. He helped lead Virginia State to the Central Collegiate Athletic Association championship game in 2010.

Prior to his time at Virginia State, Arthur was an assistant offensive coach at NCAA Division II Wingate University in 2005 and worked with the tackles and tight ends at Glenville State College, his alma mater, in 2004. He began his coaching career as a student assistant at Glenville State in 2003.

In 11 years of coaching, Arthur has been directly responsible for offensive linemen and tight ends that combined to earn 14 all-conference honors and oversaw running games that produced a pair of CIAA Rookie of the Year running backs.

Arthur and his wife Melanie live in Lake Forest with their son Brycen and daughter Brylee.
