Matt Kurz joined the Lake Forest coaching staff in 2010 and continues to serve as the Foresters' inside linebackers coach and special teams coordinator.

Under Kurz' direction in 2010, Anthony Garetto was an Honorable Mention All-Midwest Conference selection at linebacker after ranking seventh in the league with 85 tackles. Jordan Cruz was also among the top 30 in the conference in tackles and Foresters at that position tallied more than 200 stops on the year. Garetto also served as the team's punter and averaged 35.5 yards per boot. Tim Gruzwalski was 6-for-7 on field goals and fellow kicker Dominick Campagna connected from 49 yards out, the second-longest field goal in program history.

Kurz graduated from Indiana University in May of 2010. The defensive back was with the Hoosier football program for five years and played on special teams in all 12 games his senior season. He earned scout team player of the week twice during both his sophomore and junior seasons.

Kurz worked in the regional office of Arena Football during the summer of 2005 and served as an intern in football operations for Arena Football2 in Chicago in 2007 and 2008.

He was an All-State selection in 2004 after recording 113 tackles and four interceptions at Glenbrook South High School, where he played for 2010 Forester Athletic Hall of Fame inductee John Klasen.
