Lake Forest College Head Football Coach Jim Catanzaro was recently named the Third Vice President of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) for 2023.

The AFCA membership also elected Ouachita Baptist University Head Coach Todd Knight as president of the organization, Jeff McMartin of Central College as first vice president, and Bobby Hauck of the University of Montana as second vice preseident.

Catanzaro previously served on the AFCA Summer Manual Committee and Ethics Committee. He is currently the Board of Trustees liaison to the Division III Head Coaches Council and the Honors Committee.

Since 2018 Catanzaro has been the Division III liaison with the Sports Science Institute at the NCAA and as a member of the Concussion Data Taskforce. He also served on the NCAA Division III Football Championships Committee from 2016-20, including a stint as the chairman from 2018-20.

"Serving on the board for the AFCA has been a great honor," Catanzaro began. "Moving into the executive committee adds to that honor. The game of football has been the single most influential part of my life from the time I was 10 years old, and I consider it not only my responsibility, but a privilege to safeguard and strengthen the game through my involvement with the AFCA. Representing Division III, the Midwest Conference, and Lake Forest College in this role, I hope to make the needs of our Division III coaches and players heard on all issues football related."
