Foresters Headed to North Central for Opening Round of NCAA Playoffs

The bracket for the 2022 NCAA Division III Football Playoffs was released on Sunday and Lake Forest will travel to North Central College for its first round game.

The Foresters prevailed 13-7 at the University of Chicago on Saturday to finished the regular season with a Midwest Conference record of 8-1. They claimed a share of the 2022 MWC championship and back-to-back league titles for the first time in team annals. At 9-1 overall, they are making their second straight trip to the NCAA Playoffs and third postseason appearance in program history.

North Central is 10-0 overall this season and the top-ranked team in the nation. The Cardinals captured their 16th College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin title and are making their 14th NCAA Playoff appearance. They were the national runners-up last year and claimed the NCAA Division III title in 2019.

Saturday's game will be played at North Central's Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium with kickoff scheduled for noon. The winner will face either Carnegie Mellon University or DePauw University in the second round on Saturday, November 26.

The third and fourth rounds will be played the following two Saturdays at participating teams' home fields and the championship game is scheduled for December 16 at Navy Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland.
