Damon Bonds Named to D3football.com Team of the Week

The D3football.com Team of the Week was announced on Tuesday and Lake Forest College graduate student Damon Bonds made the list of honorees as a returner.

Lake Forest gave Monmouth College its first Midwest Conference loss of the season on Saturday, defeating the Fighting Scots 31-14.

Bonds made one of the most important plays in the game late in the third quarter after a safety gave the Foresters a 17-14 lead. After fielded the ensuing kickoff on the right side of the field at his own 26-yardline, he made a diagonal through the coverage team, sprinted by the kicker at the Monmouth 25, and headed up the visitors' sideline to the end zone.

Bonds also carried the ball 21 times for 136 yards, allowing Lake Forest to possess the ball for more than 34 minutes in the game. He finished the day with a career-high 232 all-purpose yards.

The victory raised the Foresters' overall record to 7-1 and kept them in contention for a second straight conference title with a 6-1 mark in league play.

D3football.com began naming a Team of the Week in 1999 and Bonds is the 24th Lake Forest player to be honored and second this season.
