A.J. Jackson Named Forester Athlete of the Week

Lake Forest College football player A.J. Jackson was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for his performance in a 44-0 victory over visiting Grinnell College on Saturday.

Jackson, a freshman wide receiver and kick returner, began his first collegiate home game with a bang, returning the opening kickoff 60 yards to the Pioneer 25. The Foresters reached the end zone two plays later and the rout was on.

The second touch of the day for Jackson was even more successful as he took his only catch of the contest 82 yards for his first career touchdown. It was the third-longest reception in program history and, a quarter later, he set a school record for the longest punt return with an 85-yard touchdown. Jackson returned another punt 58 yards to the end zone later in the second quarter but the play was called back by a penalty.

Jackson amassed 235 all-purpose yards on the day and has a total of 335 in his first two games as a Forester.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
