A 30-yard field goal by junior Michael Bounds was all the scoring the Lake Forest College football team could manage in a 30-3 loss at Monmouth College on Saturday.

The third three-pointer of the year for Bounds came with just 2:12 remaining in the contest. He also averaged 42.5 yards on 10 punts on the afternoon.

Monmouth gained more than 150 yards in the first quarter but had three drives end deep in Forester territory, one on an interception by Forester junior safety Blake Becker and two on missed field goals.

The home team reached the end zone twice in the second quarter but had a third attempt to score thwarted by senior cornerback Cade Brittain's second interception of the season.

The Fighting Scots scored six on a 95-yard drive in the third quarter but missed the extra point. They added three points on the field goal early in the fourth and tacked on a touchdown with 8:50 to play in the game.

Senior linebacker Charlie Timmerman led the Lake Forest defense with 14 tackles while junior defensive end Jordan McInerney and senior defensive tackle James Pruitt set career-highs with 12 and 10, respectively.

Senior wide receiver Chase Creviston led the Forester offense in yardage with 39 on three receptions. The visitors were out-gained 474-125 on the day.

Lake Forest, which came in having outscored its last three opponents 101-0, is now 5-3 overall this season and 3-1 in Midwest Conference South Division play. Monmouth improved to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the division and clinched first place in the MWC South standings.

The Foresters will close out conference play and the home portion of their 2018 schedule against visiting Illinois College next Saturday. Kickoff on Senior Day and Parents Day is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
