Junior linebacker Jordan McInerney sacked the quarterback three times and led the team in tackles but the Foresters fell 28-27 at Macalester College on Saturday.

McInerney finished the contest with nine tackles, including five solos behind the line of scrimmages. He now has 10.0 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks on the season. Two of McInerney's sacks on Saturday resulted in fumbles, the first recovered by senior defensive lineman James Pruitt and the second by senior linebacker Charlie Timmerman. Senior cornerback Cade Brittain was next on the team with eight tackles and freshman safety Anthony Reick added seven.

Forester senior quarterback Jagan Cleary completed 24 of 33 passes for 233 yards, two touchdowns, and his first interception of the year. His first scoring strike went to freshman wide receiver Andrew Siren from seven yards out and the second was a 34-yarder to sophomore wideout John Rall. Rall caught three passes for 86 yards, matching the yardage total for junior wide receiver Ted Crane, who grabbed nine receptions. Sophomore tailback Alex Adams led the visitors with 51 rushing yards on 11 carries and scored for the fourth time in 2018.

Each team scored a touchdown in each of the four quarters. The Scots reached the end zone first in the opening period but had the extra point attempt blocked. Lake Forest pulled ahead by eight points in the second but the home team tied the score on a touchdown and two-point conversion. Rall's touchdown put the Foresters back on top in the third but they found themselves down seven points in the fourth before traveling 78 yards in six plays, including a 4-yard score by Adams. The extra point attempt was blocked, however, and Macalester was able to run out the final 3:35 off the clock to secure the victory.

Both teams entered the non-conference contest at 2-1. The Foresters will begin Midwest Conference play at Knox College next Saturday with kickoff scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
