Nine Foresters in 2018 NFF Hampshire Honor Society

The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame (NFF) recently announced the members of the 2018 NFF Hampshire Honor Society and nine players from Lake Forest College were listed.

The NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who maintained a cumulative 3.2 grade point average or better throughout their college career. An all-time high 1,271 players from a record 307 schools qualified for membership in the society's 12th year.

Qualifications for membership in the NFF Hampshire Honor Society include:

  • Being a starter or a significant contributor in one's last year of eligibility (or a senior who has declared for the NFL Draft) at an NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, Football Championship Subdivision, Division II, Division III or an NAIA college or university;
  • Achieving a 3.2 cumulative grade point average throughout entire course of undergraduate study; and
  • Meeting all NCAA/NAIA-mandated progress towards degree requirements.

Four of the Foresters on the list are double-majors. Offensive lineman Kevin Curameng and defensive lineman Tim Finucane are focusing their college education on finance and politics while linebacker Michael Cole is a business and marketing major and offensive lineman Tom Steen is specializing in psychology and neuroscience.

Joining Curameng and Steen among the offensive linemen on the list is communication major Miko Delacruz. The only other honoree on the offense is wide receiver Isaac Barthelmess, a business major who graduated in December, and the defense's other member is lineman and finance major Hector Mendoza. Long-snapper Ryan Shalosky and punter Samuel Plutchak represent the Foresters' special teams and major in finance and biology, respectively.

Lake Forest posted its second straight 8-2 season in 2017 and finished second in the Midwest Conference South Division standings with a league record of 4-1.
