Another All-American Honor for Valdivia

D3football.com announced its 2017 All-America Teams Friday evening and, for the second year in a row, Lake Forest College's Joey Valdivia was a Third Team selection.

Valdivia, a senior running back, set a program record with 1,809 rushing yards this season and led the nation for the second straight season with 18 points per contest. In addition to reaching the end zone 26 times on the ground, he scored four receiving touchdowns. Valdivia ranked second in the country with 180.9 rushing yards and 218.6 all-purpose yards per game and 25th with 6.48 yards per carry.

With 4,170 yards and 64 touchdowns on the ground in his career, Valdivia is easily the program's all-time leader in both categories. He also ranks first in team history in yards per carry (6.7) and total points (414).

It was the second All-American award of the week for Valdivia, who received First Team honors from the American Football Coaches Association on Tuesday. He was also voted the Midwest Conference Offensive Skill Position MVP last month.

Lake Forest posted an 8-2 overall record in 2017 and finished second in the MWC South Division with a league mark of 4-1.
