Joey Valdivia Named First Team All-Region

D3football.com released its 2017 all-region teams on Tuesday and Joey Valdivia of Lake Forest College was a First Team All-West Region selection.

Valdivia, a senior running back, led the nation in scoring for the second year in a row with 18 points per game. He ran for a school record 1,809 yards in 10 contest and ranked second in the country in rushing yards per contest. We was also second in the nation with 218.6 all-purpose yards per game and third with 26 rushing touchdowns.

The Foresters were 28-12 overall and 21-6 in Midwest Conference play during Valdivia's four seasons. He will graduate as the program's all-time leader with 4,170 career yards on the ground, 6.7 yards per carry, 64 rushing touchdowns, 69 touchdowns overall, and 414 points. He scored more rushing touchdowns than the next two players in team history combined.

Valdivia was also named First Team All-West Region last season, when he went on to add Third Team All-American accolades to his list of awards. This year's D3football.com All-American Teams will be announced on December 15 during D3football.com's pregame coverage of the NCAA Division III Championship Game.
