Jagan Cleary Named Forester Athlete of the Week

Lake Forest College football player Jagan Cleary was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for his performance in the team's 41-26 victory over visiting Macalester College on Saturday.

Cleary, a junior quarterback, had a career-high 31 completions in 40 attempts for 337 yards and three touchdowns on the afternoon. He also had four rushing attempts for 26 yards and his first career touchdown on the ground. In the first half Cleary completed touchdown passes to three different receivers, connected with a fourth on a two-point conversion, and scored himself on a 17-yard run. He was especially effective on third and fourth down, completing 12 of 15 attempts for 145 yards, a touchdown, and nine other conversions.

Cleary's yardage total matched the 10th-highest mark in school history and he passed up four former Forester signal-callers and moved into fifth place in team annals with 4,340 passing yards in his career. He is also the program's career leader in completion percentage (62.5%) and pass efficiency rating (145.6) and ranks third with 39 career touchdown passes and seventh with 347 completions.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Cleary also earned the award once last season.
