Lake Forest College football player Joey Valdivia was named Midwest Conference Offensive Performer of the Week on Monday after rushing for five touchdowns in a 42-26 victory Saturday night at Lawrence University.

Valdivia, a senior running back, carried the ball 30 times for 268 yards in the contest. He reached the end zone on a 9-yard run in the first quarter and a 14-yarder in the second, giving the Foresters the lead on both occasions. His 5-yard score in the third quarter extended the Lake Forest lead to two touchdowns, as did his 61-yarder early in the fourth. He gained 58 yards on his next carry and scored from a yard out two plays later to close out the scoring in the contest.

The five touchdowns on the night match the third-highest total in team history and Valdivia now has a dozen scores, including 10 on the ground, in just three games this season. He surpassed the 3,000-yard mark for his career on Saturday and is now just 244 yards away from becoming the program's all-time leading rusher.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's director of media and information. Valdivia also earned the award last week and four times during the 2016 season.
