Lake Forest Falls at Monmouth

The Forester football team was defeated 38-7 at Monmouth College on Saturday. Lake Forest's only score was a 4-yard touchdown reception by senior wide receiver Willie McIntyre.

The scoring strike to McIntyre from senior quarterback Sean Dickson and the extra point by senior kicker Jon Gurchak pulled the Foresters to within three at 10-7 with 11:15 to play in the first half. The score was set up by a 43-yard completion from Dickson to senior wideout George Vidas. Dickson completed 14 of 24 passes on the day for 137 yards with no interceptions. 

Monmouth drove 75 yards in 14 plays for a touchdown on the next possession and led 17-7 at halftime. The Fighting Scots added two touchdown passes and a fumble return to the end zone in the third quarter to pull away.

The Forester defense was led by freshman linebacker Jack Garcia's season-high 11 tackles. Sophomore safety R.J. Pompey also set a new season-high with 10 stops.

Lake Forest was unable to force any turnovers but fumbled the ball away twice.

The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record on the season to 2-4 and they fell to 1-1 in Midwest Conference South Division play. Monmouth is now 5-1 overall adn 2-0 in the MWC South.

Lake Forest will be back at home next Saturday against Illinois College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
