Lake Forest College football player Ed Dobernig was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after playing a significant role in the team's 17-10 triumph at Cornell College on Saturday.

Dobernig, a senior cornerback, accounted for two of five turnovers forced by the Forester defense on the day. He picked off the Cornell quarterback on the home team's first drive of the contest and returned the ball 32 yards to the Ram 21. Lake Forest scored a touchdown on the next play to take the early lead. He also scooped up a fumble late in the third quarter and returned it 33 yards for the Foresters' other touchdown.

Dobernig also made six tackles in the game, including five solos, and had three pass breakups.

The interception was the third for Dobernig this year and the 12th of his career, tying him with Keith Hanson (2002-06) for fourth place in program history.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Dobernig also earned the award on September 12 and once as a freshman. He was also named Midwest Conference Defensive Performer of the Week on Monday and appearned on D3football.com's National Team of the Week on Wednesday.
