Jon Gurchak Named MWC Special Teams Performer of the Week

Lake Forest College football player Jon Gurchak was named Midwest Conference Special Teams Performer of the Week on Monday for his performance in the Foresters' 45-3 victory over visiting Concordia University Chicago on Saturday.

Gurchak, a sophomore kicker/punter, was 6-for-6 on extra points and connected for a career-long 47-yard field goal in the contest. That distance matched the third-longest field goal in program history.

In addition to scoring nine points, Gurchak also helped the home team win the field position battle throughout the game. He averaged 35.2 yards on his five punts, two of which ended up inside the 20-yardline. Five of his eight kickoffs landed in the end zone and the Cougars' average starting field position following Gurchak's kickoffs and punts was inside the 24-yardline.

Gurchak also made the tackle on his final kickoff of the day.

Midwest Conference Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information director.
