Sarah Frantz grew up in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, and attended Badger High School, where she helped lead the volleyball team to the semifinals of the Division I state tournament her senior season. The school record-holder in numerous categories, Frantz was a First Team All-Southern Lakes Conference selection, Honorable Mention All-State honoree, and team captain as a senior.

Frantz entered Lake Forest College in the fall of 1997 and was an extremely successful setter on the volleyball team throughout the next four years. As a freshman, she set a school record with 73 assists in a match and helped lead the Foresters to an 18-7 record and the College’s first Midwest Conference championship in volleyball. Lake Forest captured conference titles again her junior and senior seasons and she was named MWC Player of the Year and the team’s Most Valuable Player following each campaign. She led the Foresters in assists each of her four years, became the program’s career leader in that category as a junior, and set a school record with 1,250 assists that season. She finished her career with four of the top five single-season assist totals in team history and a four-year tally of 4,348. She also led the squad in aces each year and set another team record with 209 in her career. Lake Forest was 76-35 overall and 13-3 in MWC South Division play during Frantz’s four seasons combined. As a senior, she captained the team to a 23-6 record, the best winning percentage in program history, and the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Frantz was a member of the Gamma Phi Omega sorority while on campus. She graduated from the College in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.

She lists her husband Bryan and children Briahna, Connor, and Colin as her greatest lifetime achievement.
