Brett Egner grew up in Holicong, Pennsylvania, and attended Central Bucks High School East. He helped lead the Patriot boys soccer team to a league title, served as a co-captain, and earned all-state honors.

After two years at the University of Kentucky, Egner transferred to Lake Forest College in 1994 and helped lead the Forester men’s soccer team to a 42-9-2 record over the next three seasons. After tying for third on the squad with 16 points as a sophomore, he tied for the team lead with 29 his junior year. The Foresters won a program record 17 games against just one loss that season and Egner posted the second-highest assist total in team history with 15, including two in a victory over Grinnell College in the Midwest Conference Championship Game. Lake Forest was a perfect 10-0-0 in MWC play and captured another league title in 1996. Egner’s conference-best 17 goals and 42 points were the second-highest totals in program history and he scored one goal and assisted on another in the championship game victory over Beloit College. The Forester co-captain was named First Team All-MWC and Second Team All-Midwest Region after the season. Despite playing just three years at the College, Egner finished his career ranked among the top five in program history with 29 goals, 29 assists, and 87 points.

Egner graduated from Lake Forest College in December of 1996 with a degree in American studies. He went on to a successful career in financial asset management, where he achieved the level of partner.
