Katy Clodius grew up in Littleton, Colorado, and attended Chatfield Senior High School. She was a two-year captain on the swim team and a three-time qualifier for the state meet

Clodius entered Lake Forest College in 1993 and became one of the most accomplished swimmers in school history. She claimed a total of 10 Midwest Conference championships in five different individual events, including three each in the 200-breaststroke and 200-IM, and added seven additional titles as part of relay teams. The Foresters were 29-7 in dual meets and captured three MWC championships during her four years at the College. Clodius was Lake Forest’s MVP as a freshman, sophomore, and junior. She was the team captain in each of her last three seasons and, furthermore, qualified for the NCAA Championships four times. As a freshman, she was seventh in the nation in the 200-breaststroke and 15th in the 100-breaststroke. As a junior, she helped the Foresters finish among the top 16 in the country in both medley relays. Clodius closed out her career her senior year by placing 13th in the nation in the 400-IM. Clodius broke conference records in three different events during her career and, at the time of her induction, still ranked among the top five swimmers in program history in the 200-breaststroke and 400-IM.

After graduating from the College with a degree in biology, Clodius became an animal trainer, working with a variety of exotic animals including sea otters, tigers, and dolphins over the span of that career. Then, as a proud wife and mother of two, she became a health and wellness professional and has been an activist in the areas of environmental health and medical freedom. She also spent time as a Masters swim team coach.
