Jenny Anderson grew up in Sebastopol, California, and attended El Molino High School, where she earned three varsity letters in volleyball and as a swimmer. She helped lead the volleyball team to a California Division III title as a senior in the team’s third consecutive appearance in the state championship match. Anderson was an all-conference selection and was named El Molino Scholar Athlete of the Year as a senior.

Anderson entered Lake Forest College in 2000 and began one of the most prolific careers in the history of the Forester volleyball team. She became the first player in school history to record her 1,000th career kill as a junior, the first to reach the 1,000-mark in both kills and digs, and the program’s all-time leader in both categories. In addition to her 1,374 career kills and 1,368 digs, Anderson graduated with 200 aces, the second-highest total in team annals at that time. Her 415 kills as a sophomore ranked second in school history and her 63 aces that year matched the program’s third-highest mark. Anderson was a Second Team All-Midwest Conference selection her sophomore season and a First Team honoree and team captain each of the next two years. Lake Forest captured league titles in 2000, 2001, and 2003 and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament in each of those seasons. At the time of her induction, the Foresters’ 85 victories (against just 45 losses) during Anderson’s career were still the most of any four-year span in program history.

Anderson was also a member of Lake Forest’s Gamma Phi Omega sorority and majored in psychology. In 2014 she added a bachelor of science degree in nursing, graduating magna cum laude from Samuel Merritt University. She then began a career as a labor and delivery nurse at a national-ranked hospital.
