On Friday, June 16, the Lake Forest College Department of Athletics held the 28th annual F.A.N. Club Golf Outing at White Deer Run Golf Course in nearby Vernon Hills. The event featured 144 registered golfers, including a great mix of alumni, corporate partners, friends of the College, staff, and coaches. Temperatures were cool but play on the course was not as the winning team (pictured) turned in an impressive score of 53.
It was wonderful seeing the course and the clubhouse full of Foresters having a great time golfing and connecting with each other at breakfast, lunch at the turn, and dinner during the 19th Hole Reception. We are grateful to all who attended and would also like to thank title sponsor Illinois Bone and Joint Institute and all the event's other amazing sponsors and donors.
Established in 1995, the mission of the F.A.N. Club is to promote school spirit, increase attendance at sporting events, and build enthusiasm for Forester Athletics. The F.A.N. Club also hosts social activities, supports athletic alumni outreach, and keeps members informed about upcoming events, season results, and other news regarding Forester Athletics.
The F.A.N. Club's signature event of the year is its annual golf outing, which raises funds that significantly enhances the College's athletic programs. This year's total was the highest in nearly a decade and will greatly benefit more than 500 Forester student-athletes.
Below are several special initiatives the F.A.N. Club has helped make possible:
• Forester Game Plan career planning for student-athletes
• Locker room upgrades
• Championship monuments and facility landscaping
• Upgraded photography and webcasting equipment, including cameras, camcorders, and computers
• New uniforms
The success of our Forester teams, the school spirit and pride we proudly boast today, and the invaluable enhancements listed above all play an important role in continuing our Tradition of Excellence in Forester Athletics.
