The Midwest Conference released the list of 2022-23 Academic All-MWC honorees on Friday and 159 Forester student-athletes were recognized, one shy of the school record.
The criteria to become an Academic All-MWC selection includes a minimum grade point average of 3.33 during the entire academic year. Student-athletes who letter in any MWC sport are eligible for the award.
Football posted Lake Forest's largest number of Academic All-MWC selections with 35 and was one of six teams to match or exceed their previous program-highs. The others are women's swimming and diving (18), men's track (11), women's track (14), volleyball (10), and men's tennis (6). Of the College's 15 sports that compete in the MWC, 10 had at least half of the final roster mentioned in Friday's release.
Thirty-six of the Foresters honored were seniors, including 16 who have now earned the award all three years it was presented in their sports. There were no Academic All-MWC honorees in fall or winter sports in 2020-21 due to the cancelation of those seasons.
Lake Forest also competes in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (men and women), St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (men's and women's golf), Midwest Lacrosse Conference (men), and Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference and all-academic team honors in those leagues were announced shortly after the completion of each season. In all, a school record 224 Foresters earned conference academic honors in 2022-23.
