Forester Athletes of the Week: May 16

For their recordbreaking performances at the Midwest Conference Championships, track's Mary Radziewicz and Matthew Lungu were named Forester Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.

Radziewicz qualified for the finals in the women's 200-meter sprint with a time of 26.34. In the finals, the sophomore broke her own school record, lowering the mark to 26.22; she finished sixth in the field. Additionally, Radziewicz anchored the women's 4x100-meter relay team, which placed eighth.

Lungu also broke his own school record at the Championship meet. In the prelims of the open 400-meter, the sophomore shaved off nearly a second from his personal best, clocking a time of 50.92. In the finals he placed sixth overall with a time of 51.46. Lungu also scored points for the men's team as he raced the opening leg of the 4x100  The 4x100 bested their previous school record with a time of 44.24.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by a vote of athletic department staff on Tuesdays. This is the first time either athlete has been awarded the distinction.
