Forester Athletes of the Week: May 9

Sophomores Calliope Saban of women's lacrosse and Conor Murphy of men's lacrosse were named Forester Athletes of the Week on Tuesday for their performances in their respective conference championships.

In the semifinals of the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference Tournament against University of Northwestern-St. Paul, Saban stopped 7 of 10 shots on goal in the first three periods to secure the Foresters' vicotry. The goalie then turned away nine of the Bennies' 14 shots on goal for a .643 save percentage in the tournament final at the College of Saint Benedict a few days later.

Defenseman Murphy matched up against both Co-Offensive Players of the Year during the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Tournament; he held both players to just 1 combined goal and 0 assists throughout both the semifinal and final game. He did this while recording 17 ground ball and seven caused turnovers, while netting a goal for himself in the semifinal game.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by a vote of athletic department staff on Tuesdays. This is the first time Saban has been named athlete of the week; Murphy earned the distinction once before on April 5, 2022.
