Softball player Kaylee Purgatorio was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Tuesday for her performance in the team's games against North Central College on Thursday.
The sophomore shortstop outscored North Central in both games of Lake Forest's doubleheader sweep on Thursday. Purgatorio had three base hits, including a triple, and reached home plate three times in an 11-2 victory in the opener. She also walked and stole a base in the contest. The leadoff hitter drew two more walks and scored half of her team's runs in a 4-1 triumph in game two.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by a vote of athletic department staff on Tuesdays. This is the first time Purgatorio has earned the distinction.
