For their performances at the Midwest Conference Swimming and Diving Championship Meet, senior Helena Blumenau and sophomore Noah McAdam were named Forester Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.
Blumenau was impactful in helping the women to a runner-up finish at the championships. She won, set a school record, and achieved an NCAA B-Cut with a lifetime best result in the 200-backstroke (2:03.06) and was second in the 500-freestyle (with another lifetime best (5:06.22)) and the 1650-Free (17:42.65). She also was a key contributor to the first place and school-recordbreaking 800-free relay, in which she led off with a lifetime best time (1:55.71). She helped the women set another school record and place second in the 400-medley relay and was part of the third-place 200-medley relay, whose time now ranks fourth in program history.
McAdam raced to all lifetime best results at the conference meet, helping the men's team finish third. Among his many achievements over the weekend, he set a school record in the 100-backstroke (51.00) leading off the 400-medley relay. He also raced to a second place finish in the individual 100-back (51.38), a fourth place finish in the 200-back with a time that ranks him second on the team's all-time list (1:51.97), and a 10th place finish in the 50-free (21.68). Including the 400-medley relay, McAdam contributed to three other Forester relays. He helped the 200-free relay, 200-medley relay, and 800-free relay to third place finishes at the meet. The 800-free relay posted the second best time in team annals, and the 200-free and 400-medley relays posted fifth best all-time results.
