Announced on Tuesday, the Forester Athletes of the Week are Annie Lally of women's basketball and George Ciuca of men's tennis.
Lally led Lake Forest to a pair of victories last week. The senior forward scored 10 points in the first five minutes and had a game-high 19 on the evening in Wednesday's 59-47 triumph at Lawrence. The Foresters defeated Illinois College 88-77 in overtime on Saturday, and Lally led all players with a career-high 31 points in the contest. She shot 12-for-16 from the field and added eight rebounds on the afternoon.
Ciuca helped lift the Foresters to an 8-1 win over Wartburg College Friday night. The freshman, with partner Ian Villardi at number two doubles, dominated their opponents for an early 8-1 match win. In singles, Ciuca went on to earn a straight set 6-1, 6-1 victory to clinch the match win for Lake Forest. In total, he went an impressive 20 games won to only 3 lost on the night.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by a vote of athletic department staff on Tuesdays. This is the first time Ciuca earned the distiction; Lally earned the honors multiple times in her career, the last of which was on November 29, 2022.
