Forester Athletes of the Week: Jan. 17

For their performances at the highly competitive Illinois-Michigan Quadrangular on Saturday, swimmers Ally McCarthy and Noah McAdam were named Forester Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.

McCarthy posted a pair of victories at the quad. The junior touched the wall first in the 1000-free by more than 11 seconds, finishing in 11:03.19. She also won the 500-free, where she was more than seven seconds faster than the runner-up with a time of 4:24.19. The Foresters finished ahead of Wheaton and host Kalamazoo but behind 12th-ranked Hope in the team standings.

McAdam was the fastest backstroker in the field leading off the men's 400-medley relay with a strong in-season time (54.30). The sophomore was also the lead-off for the 400-free relay, which placed third at the meet; McAdam's time in the relay (49.46) was a liftime best time and was the second fastest lead-off split in the event. To cap off his meet, he placed second overall in the 200-back with a 1:59.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by a vote of athletic department staff on Tuesdays. McAdam has now earned the distinction twice this season. This is McCarthy's first time this season as an honoree; she earned the disctintion last season on December 7, 2021.
