Foresters Athletes of the Week: Jan. 10

Sophomore guard Alex Knight of men's basketball and senior goaltender Hannah Turnage of women's hockey were named Forester Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.

Knight helped lead Lake Forest to a pair of narrow conference victories on the road last week, scoring 19 points in a 74-72 triumph at Knox on Tuesday and matching that total in Saturday's 77-76 overtime win at Cornell. He shot 50 percent from the field and added 7 rebounds and 11 assists in the two games combined. Knight also scored the winning basket with just 11.4 seconds on the overtime clock at Cornell.

Turnage tallied 109 saves in three games in Vermont last week. After stopping 28 of 30 shots on goal in a 2-2 tie at Castleton University on Tuesday, she made 58 saves, the third-highest single-game total in team history, in a 4-0 loss at defending national champion Middlebury College on Wednesday. Turnage capped off the week with a 23-save shutout at NCAA Division I Saint Michael's College on Friday. She posted a 1.95 goals against average and .948 save percentage on the week.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by a vote of athletic department staff on Tuesdays. Both players have now earned the award twice this season and Turnage was also an honoree in 2021-22.
