Forester Athletes the Week: Dec. 21

Senior guard Katie Neher of women's basketball and senior wing Johnny Roeser of men's basketball were named Forester Athlete of the Week on Wednesday.

In the women's basketball team's 95-89 overtime win against Luther College, Neher scored 37 points, the fifth-highest total in program history. Lake Forest outscored the Norse 59-34 in the second half. Neher, who scored 32 of the Foresters' 75 points after halftime, shot 12-for-21 from the field and added six rebounds, five assists, and six steals in the contest. In their game on Monday against Worcester State University, the Foresters won 77-68. Neher had the second-hight point total on the team at 20; she shot 8-for-14 from the field.

Roser helped trim a 16-point deficit to one point in the men's team game against University of La Verne. The Foresters ultimately lost the contest 69-68, but Roeser turned in his third double-double of the season with 10 points and a game-high 11 boards. The Foresters turned in a victory in their game on Tuesday against the University of the Redlands 70-66. Roeser added another double-double to his tally, putting up a game-high 23 points and 18 rebounds; he shot 11-for-17 from the field and played all but 68 seconds in the contest.

The Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by a vote of athletic department staff on Tuesdays. Roeser won the distinction last season on February 8, 2021; Neher won previously on November 16, 2021 and November 22, 2022.
