Forester Athletes of the Week: Nov. 1

Forester Athletes of the Week: Nov. 1

Elliot Hull of men's soccer and volleyball's Mary Gegen were named Forester Athlete of the Week. This is the second week in a row that Gegen has earned the award.

Hull scored the game-winning goal with a header off a corner kick in the men's soccer game against Grinnell College on Saturday. He also helped shut down the Grinnell offense, keeping a very good attacking team scoreless for the entire game. The victory catapulted the Foresters to the top of the standings, clinching the Midwest Conference title, their first since 2016.

Gegen pounded out 18 kills and posted a .410 hitting percentage in a four-set loss to Marian Friday night before notching a double-double with a dozen kills and 10 digs in Saturday's four-set win over Grinnell. The win against Grinnell puts Lake Forest second in the conference as the Foresters head into post-season play this weekend.

The Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by a vote of athletic department staff on Tuesdays. Along with last week, Gegen was also awarded Forester Athlete of the Week honors on September 27; this is the first time this season Hull has achieved the award.
