Foresters Announce 2021 Hall of Fame Induction Class

The Lake Forest College Athletic Hall of Fame will have four new members when its Class of 2021 is inducted on Saturday, October 2, during the College's Homecoming festivities.

The football program will see its hall of fame membership increase by two with the induction of defensive lineman Steve Pape '90 and wide receiver Dan Carter '10. They will be joined by a pair of two-sport athletes in Katie Snowden '07 and Tracy Rainey '10. Snowden was on the cross country and hockey teams while Rainey played softball and basketball.

More than three decades after graduating from the College, Pape still holds the program record with 37 career sacks and, using only his sack totals, he ranks sixth in team annals in tackles for loss. His 11 sacks in 1987 were just one shy of the single-season school record at the time and he matched that total as a senior. Pape was named Honorable Mention All-Midwest Collegiate Athletic Conference as a sophomore before earning First Team accolades each of the next two seasons. He captained the Foresters and was selected as the team's Most Valuable Player as a senior.

Carter is easily the most prolific wide receiver in the history of Forester football, becoming the program's career leader in touchdown catches as a sophomore, receiving yards as a junior, and receptions early in his senior season. He graduated with 3,422 yards on 221 receptions with 40 touchdown catches in as many games. After earning Second Team All-Midwest Conference honors as a freshman, he was selected to the First Team each of the next three years. Carter was voted his team's Most Valuable Player following each of his final two seasons and captained the squad as a senior.

Rainey was the Foresters' shortstop every inning from 2007 through 2010 and is still the softball program's career leader with 186 hits, 46 doubles, 136 runs batted in, and 416 assists while ranking among the all-time leaders in several other categories. She was a four-time team MVP and All-MWC South Division honoree, a three-time all-region selection, and the MWC South Player of the Year as a junior and senior. Rainey was also a four-year starter on the basketball team and helped lead Lake Forest to a conference title and the second round of the NCAA Tournament as a freshman. She served as a team captain twice in basketball and once in softball.

Snowden was the first Forester cross country runner to earn all-conference honors four times and turned in her best performance at the 2005 MWC Championships, where she was fifth the fastest 5-kilometer time in program history (18:57). She was the team's top runner in 27 of her 30 career races and graduated with 12 of the 27 fastest 5K times in program history. Snowden also had 21 goals and 23 assists during her four years on the hockey team. On November 1, 2003, she ran what was then the fourth-fastest time in team history at that morning's MWC Championships and was on the ice for the hockey team's game less than three hours later.

The addition of Pape, Carter, Rainey, and Snowden will increase the Lake Forest College Athletic Hall of Fame membership to 250 individuals and three teams. They will be honored at the annual Athletic Recognition Ceremony on October 2 and will also be honored on the field at halftime of that afternoon's football game against Cornell College.
