Matt Kelley Replaces Retired Carolyn Tuttle as Foresters' MWC Faculty Athletic Representative

Dr. Matt Kelley has been appointed Lake Forest College's Faculty Athletic Representative for the Midwest Conference. He replaces Dr. Carolyn Tuttle, who retired after the 2019-20 academic year.

Kelley, who is also the chair of the psychology department, has been a faculty member at the College since 2002. He recently earned the Trustee Award for Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership.

"Matt has been a great supporter of Forester Athletics during his time at the College," commented Interim Director of Athletics Blake Theisen. "He can often be seen at home contests and he has directly mentored many of our student-athletes in the psychology department and neuroscience program."

Kelley takes over as the Foresters' MWC Faculty Athletic Representative after the retirement of Dr. Carolyn Tuttle, who has served in that capacity multiple times during her career. Her latest stint covered the last two years, during which she added MWC Governance Committee President to her role. Tuttle received Lake Forest's Great Teacher Award in four different decades and has been a proponent of athletics at the College throughout her teaching career.

"Carolyn will be missed by everyone at the College," began Vice President for Career Advancement at Athletics Jackie Slaats. "Her footprint on our campus is significant and certainly extends to the Athletic Department, where she has always been a strong supporter of our teams and the student-athletes individually."

MWC Faculty Athletic Representatives (FARs) are extremely important, voting on key league issues and serving on various committees within the conference.

Lake Forest College Associate Professor of Communication Dr. Linda Horwitz will continue to serve as the Foresters' faculty athletic representative for the Northern College Hockey Association, St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (golf teams), Midwest Lacrosse Conference, and Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference. She has been a faculty representative at the College since 2004.
