National Girls and Women in Sports Day at Lake Forest College

The Lake Forest College Athletic Department is excited to participate in the 34th annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day, an important day recognized by the Women's Sport Foundation each year. This year's program will be held on Sunday, February 16 at 1:00 p.m. in the Sports and Recreation Center on the campus of Lake Forest College. The program is free and is offered to all young women ages 6-14.

Registration will begin at 12:15 p.m. and activities will run from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Each participant will rotate through seven different sport specific stations, including basketball, cheerleading, running, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball, each of which will be led by current Lake Forest student-athletes. At each station, the participants will also learn an important message about being a healthy athlete, including topics such as sleep, nutrition, stretching, etc. The program will conclude with a yoga and cool down session for all participants.

National Girls and Women in Sports Day was first recognized by Congress in 1987 to recognize that the confidence, character and lessons learned through athletics are immensely helpful in assisting young girls and women to develop into leaders in life. We invite you to join Lake Forest College in celebrating past and current achievements of girls and women in sports at this year's event.
