Volleyball, cross country, men's soccer, and men's tennis will compete at home this week while women's soccer, women's tennis, and both golf teams are on the road.
The women's golf team won the Marian University Invite for the fourth year in a row last weekend. The Foresters will play in three events this week, beginning with Tuesday's Elmhurst College Fall Invitational and Oak Brook Golf Club in Oak Brook, Illinois. Lake Forest will also travel to Riverside Golf Course in Janesville, Wisconsin, for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Fall Classic on Friday and Saturday. Lake Forest was second out of five schools in Elmhurst's tournament and sixth out of 15 teams in Whitewater's event last year. The team will also make its first appearance at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Invitatonal on Sunday.
Volleyball won two of three matches at Wheaton College's Marilyn Scribner Invite over the weekend, falling in three sets to Dominican University before sweeping North Central College and Buena Vista University. The Foresters evened their record at 6-6 on the year and will host Elmhurst College (3-7) Wednesday night and Benedictine University (8-3) Friday evening. Lake Forest will be trying to avenge a four-set loss at Elmhurst and a five-set defeat at Benedictine in 2018.
Men's soccer will also be in action Wednesday night at Aurora University. The Foresters dropped a pair of one-goal games in California over the weekend and are now 2-2-1 this season. The Spartans enter the week at 1-4-0 after falling 4-1 to North Park University last Tuesday. Lake Forest will also play on Saturday against visiting North Central College, which owns a record of 3-3-0 after dropping a 1-0 decision at Kalamazoo College on Saturday. The Foresters have not faced Aurora in six years and North Central in four.
Friday's action is highlighted by the cross country team's Forester Invitational at Foss Park Golf Course in nearby North Chicago. Five other schools will participate in the event, which is in its third year at Foss Park.
After back-to-back weekends of Midwest Conference play, select members of the Forester women's tennis team will travel to Kalamazoo, Michigan, for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Tournament this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Lake Forest won 9-0 at Cornell College before falling 6-3 at Grinnell College on Saturday and is now 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the league this fall.
Women's soccer split a pair of home games over the weekend, falling 3-2 to Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday and blanking Saint Mary's College 2-0 on Sunday. The 4-3-1 Foresters will play under the lights at 1-3-0 North Park University Friday night. Lake Forest will be looking for a third consecutive victory over the Vikings, who are coming off a 4-2 loss at Aurora on Saturday.
Men's golf finished in the middle of the pack at the Midwest Region Fall Classic last weekend, tying for 18th place out of 36 teams. The Foresters will travel to Washington County Golf Course in Hartford, Wisconsin, for the Wisconsin Lutheran Fall Invitational this Saturday and Sunday. The team placed sixth out of 11 schools at the tournament a year ago.
The Lake Forest men's tennis team will be in action for the first time in 2019-20 on Sunday when the College hosts Milwaukee School of Engineering and Illinois Institute of Technology in the Forester Doubles Invite. Play will begin in the morning if weather allows or in the afternoon at Racquet Club of Lake Bluff if it does not.
