On Friday, June 14, the Lake Forest College Athletic Department hosted the 24th Annual F.A.N. Club Golf Outing. The event was held at White Deer Run Golf Course in Vernon Hills, Illinois.
The 2019 golf outing was held on a beautiful day and had yet another fantastic turnout in golfers with 132 participants. The day began with an opportunity for golfers to win a "Booze Barrow", which was a wheel barrow filled with alcohol generously donated by Anheuser-Busch, Tito's, and Lagunitas. There were several more opportunities to win prizes during the event through various on-course contest holes including longest drive, straightest drive, closest to the pin, and the 50/50 raffle hole. Two new additions to this year's contest holes were "Boomer's Birdie Challenge" where golfers could advance to a designated 10 foot putt marker, but needed to wear boomer's mascot head while shooting from that distance. Participants also enjoyed playing "Boomer's Expressway" as they could pay a small toll to "drive" down the green to get into a better position. The course was filled not only with golfers, but ardent supporters and a contagious spirit and pride for Forester Athletics!
Following the round of golf, participants gathered in the reception area of the clubhouse to enjoy a delicious dinner buffet and to take part in a raffle and both live and silent auctions. Features in the live auction included vacation packages to Pebble Beach, San Francisco, Pinehurst, and a remote control zamboni cooler with Lake Forest College decals. The silent auction certainly did not disappoint golfers either as it contained several new prizes such as a Tiger Woods framed photo from the 2019 Masters Championship, special golf bundles to exclusive courses, Ravinia concert tickets to see Sugarland, a Javy Baez signed and framed photo, and a Chicago Helicopter tour, to name a few.
