Midwest Conference Softball and Men's Golf Tournaments are coming up this weekend.
In softball the Foresters know they are in the four-team MWC Tournament for the 20th consecutive season, but the week begins with the location of the event yet to be determined. Lake Forest is 20-14 overall this season and atop the standings with a 13-3 record in league play, while the other three tournament participants finished the regular season 13-5. Having already clinched at least a share of the 2019 MWC title, the Foresters can win the championship outright and earn the right to host the tournament with a victory in either game of their doubleheader at Lawrence University on Monday. The Vikings are currently 12-20 overall and 8-8 in the conference. Lake Forest has swept the last three doubleheaders against the Vikings, who are currently 12-20 overall and 8-8 in the conference this year.
UPDATE: The Foresters split their doubleheader against Lawrence on Monday and will host this weekend's MWC Tournament. Due to weather and field conditions, Friday's games will be played at Heritage Park in Wheeling, Illinois, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
The Forester men's golf team is the defending conference champion and will look to hold onto that distinction at the MWC Tournament at Aldeen Golf Club in Rockford, Illinois, this weekend. The three-day event begins on Thursday and continues through Saturday. Lake Forest claimed the title last year by just two strokes with a total score of 918. Four of the team's six players from the 2018 MWC Tournament are back and looking to repeat.
UPDATE: Thursday's opening round of the 2019 MWC Men's Golf Tournament has been postponed. Teams will play 36 holes on Friday, beginning at 7:30 a.m.
The double-elimination MWC Softball Tournament will begin on Friday and conclude on Saturday. The Foresters split regular season doubleheaders with each of the other three teams in the event, in each case dropping the opener before taking game two. The team that comes out on top at the end of the weekend will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
