All Forester teams are headed out of town this weekend.
Friday's only action the men's golf team's participation in round one of the Illinois Wesleyan University Invitational at Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Illinois. Lake Forest is coming off a ninth-place finish at last weekend's 20-team Jim Wetherbee Memorial Invite. The Foresters also competed in Illinois Wesleyan's event a year ago and placed 10th out of 15 schools in what turned out to be a one-day tournament because of weather.
The Forester track teams will compete in their second outdoor meet of the spring on Saturday. Lake Forest will run in the Wheaton Invitational after posting a pair of top-five finishes and setting a program record at last weekend's Viking Olympics. The team did not attend this meet in 2018.
The men's tennis team began Midwest Conference play last weekend with victories in two of three matches and will continue its league schedule on the road on Saturday. After looking to extend their winning streak against Illinois College to 25 matches in the morning, the Foresters will travel to Monmouth College in the afternoon. Lake Forest has taken its last five meetings with the Fighting Scots, although the final score in four of those contests was 5-4.
While the men's tennis team is continuing conference play on Saturday, softball will be getting started in the league, thanks to the postponement of a pair of doubleheaders this past weekend. Lake Forest was defeated 2-0 and 5-4 in nine innings at Illinois Wesleyan University, the nation's seventh-ranked team, last Thursday and will be looking to improve on a 7-9 overall record at Grinnell College on Saturday and Cornell College on Sunday. The Foresters swept doubleheaders against both opponents last season but fell to each in the 2018 MWC Tournament.
Sunday's slate also includes a pair of matches for the women's tennis team, which is 15-3 on the year after defeating North Central College 7-2 last Friday. Lake Forest will travel to Carthage College on Sunday to take on Concordia University Wisconsin before facing off with the home team. The Foresters defeated both teams by the same 7-2 score last season.
