Three Forester teams will be competing thousands of miles apart this week.
Men's basketball set a program record with 20 three-pointers in a 92-71 victory at Grace Christian University last Friday and the Foresters will travel to Arizona this week for their final non-conference games of the regular season. It will be a match-up of 6-3 teams when Lake Forest takes on the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in the semifinals of the D3 Desert Invitational on Friday. Marietta College (10-0) and Elmhurst College (6-4) will compete in the other semifinal and the event's championship and consolation games will be played on Saturday. The tournament will be hosted at the PHHacility in Phoenix.
The Forester men's hockey team is 5-4-3 on the year but not played since prevailing 4-0 at Aurora University and falling 4-2 to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, the top-ranked team in the country, December 7-8. Lake Forest will host Babson College (8-3-1) on Sunday with a Forester Family Event (3:00-5:00 p.m.) preceding the contest. These two teams faced off in Babson Park, Massachusetts, exactly a year ago with the Beavers coming out on top of a 4-1 decision.
Lake Forest's women's hockey team will head in the opposite direction of men's basketball when it makes the trip to Maine to take on Colby College on Sunday and Bowdoin College on Monday. The Foresters are coming off a 7-0 rout of visiting Aurora University on December 7 and are 6-3-2 on the season. The Foresters have never faced Colby (3-2-2) and have not taken on Bowdoin (0-7-1) since defeating the Polar Bears in overtime in January of 2010.
