Lake Forest College will likely be a quiet place this weekend. In addition to the school taking its annual Fall Break from October 20-23, all four Forester teams in action will be playing on the road.
The volleyball team is coming off a split of Midwest Conference matches last weekend. The Foresters won in four sets at Lawrence University Friday night before falling in three at St. Norbert College on Saturday. Lake Forest is now 10-13 overall and 3-2 in league play with two more conference contests coming up this weekend. The team will travel to Monmouth College (11-14, 0-6 MWC) on Friday and Illinois College (15-6, 4-3 MWC) on Saturday looking to defeat both opponents in the same weekend for the second year in a row.
The Forester soccer teams will also be competing at Illinois College on Saturday and the men will play first. Lake Forest defeated Monmouth College 2-0 but fell 1-0 to Knox College at home last weekend and is now 7-6-1 overall and 3-3-0 in the conference this year. The Foresters have taken their last eight meetings with the Blueboys, who enter the week 5-10-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the league.
The Lake Forest women's soccer team blanked visiting Monmouth College 3-0 on Saturday and Knox College 1-0 on Sunday to improve to 6-9-0 overall and 2-4-0 in MWC play this season. The Foresters will look to continue their recent run of success against the Lady Blues, who they edged out 1-0 last year.
After posting back-to-back shutouts at Knox College (35-0) and against visiting Cornell College (42-0) the last two weeks, the Forester football team will head west to Grinnell College this Saturday. Lake Forest is 4-2 overall and 2-0 in MWC South play while the Pioneers are 1-5 overall and winless in two conference contests. The Foresters have taken the last six meetings between the two teams, including last season's 70-6 triumph.
