The Forester women's golf team will play its only home event of the fall on Friday.
Three other teams began their seasons at home last weekend, beginning with volleyball, which split four matches during the Forester Invitational on Friday and Saturday. They will kick things off this week Tuesday night at Elmhurst College, which fell in all four it its matches at last weekend's Oregon Trail Tournament at Pacific University. The Foresters are 7-27 all-time against the Bluejays but have not played them since 2014. Lake Forest will also compete in the annual Associated College of the Midwest Tournament the weekend at Lawrence University, where the team will take on Luther College (2-2) and Carleton College (3-0) on Saturday and St. Olaf College (4-0) and Macalester College (1-3) on Sunday.
The Lake Forest women's soccer team will also be in action Tuesday night at Wisconsin Lutheran College. The Foresters split a pair of matches in Indiana last weekend, falling at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology before prevailing at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. Lake Forest has defeated the Warriors in all seven of their previous meetings, including a 6-1 decision last year, but Wisconsin Lutheran is 2-0-0 so far this season. The Foresters will also play their first two home games of 2018 against Concordia University Chicago (0-2-0) on Friday and Illinois Institute of Technology (1-0-1) on Saturday. Lake Forest also owns a 7-0-0 advantage in the all-time series with Concordia Chicago and has never played Illinois Tech.
The Forester men's soccer team began 2018 with a pair of victories over the weekend, blanking Concordia University Chicago 5-0 on Friday and coming from behind to defeat Westminster University 3-1 on Sunday. The team will travel to former Midwest Conference rival Carroll University on Wednesday to take on a Pioneer team that has dropped a pair of close games to start the season. Lake Forest leads the all-time series 23-10 and edged out Carroll 3-2 last year. The Foresters will also host the University of St. Thomas (2-0-0) Saturday morning and Benedictine University (1-1-0) Sunday afternoon. Lake Forest dropped both of its previous games against St. Thomas but is 15-8-2 all-time against Benedictine.
The women's golf team is 10-0 all-time in dual matches with a pair of victories over Benedictine last year. The Foresters, who tied for 10th place out of 17 teams at the two-day Carthage Shootout on the Border last weekend, will host the Eagles Friday afternoon at nearby Lake Bluff Golf Club.
The 2018-19 men's golf team will make its debut this weekend at Carthage College's Tim Kopka Memorial Tournament, which will be played on Friday and Saturday at Randall Oaks Golf Club in West Dundee, Illinois. The Foresters tied for 12th place out of 20 teams at the same tournament a year ago but posted the best round in program history at the event in 2016.
The Forester football team started its 2018 campaign with a 38-30 triumph over visiting Wisconsin Lutheran College on Saturday. The team will play the second of three consecutive home games this week against North Central College, the seventh-ranked team in the nation in D3football.com's Top 25. Lake Forest owns a 30-15-5 edge in the all-time series between the two programs, which have not met since 1973. It will be the first game of the the year for the Cardinals.
Due to last Saturday's weather, women's tennis began the season indoors against Loras College and host Milwaukee School of Engineering. After posting a pair of 6-0 victories, the Foresters will start conference play against Illinois College and Knox College this Saturday and Monmouth College on Sunday. Lake Forest is 52-2 all-time against the three opponents combined.
