Forester Athletic Hall of Fame to Welcome Four New Members at Homecoming

The Lake Forest College Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2018 will include handball player Chris Roberts '83, diver Maggie Rezac '08, and volleyball players Jenny Anderson '04 and Stephanie Metzger '04. The induction ceremony will be held during Homecoming on Saturday, October 13.

Chris Roberts will join his older brother Vern in the College's hall of fame. He captured national championships in doubles with Fran Harvey his first two seasons as a Forester and with Steve Kiser his last two years. He also became the first player in program history to claim singles and doubles titles in the same year when he accomplished the feat as a senior and no men's player in team annals has equalled his five championships in singles and doubles combined. Lake Forest earned the men's team title in Roberts' freshman season before taking home combined championships each of the next three years. In addition, Roberts signed on as an assistant coach to Mike Dau '58 in 2016 and helped lead the men's team to the program's 51st national championship in 2018.

Rezac is a five-time Midwest Conference champion with three MWC Diver of the Year awards and seven top-eight finishes at the NCAA Division III Championship Meet. She advanced to the national meet in each of her four seasons and turned in her best performance with a runner-up finish in the 1-meter competition and third-place showing off the 3-meter board as a senior. Rezac graduated with three of the program's four diving records and continues to rank first in team history in all three events. Successful in the classroom as well, she was an Academic All-MWC selection three times, a Third Team Academic All-American her final year, and the College's Scholar-Athlete Award winner as a junior and senior. Rezac was also a member of Lake Forest's All-Sportsmanship Team in 2008.

Anderson finished her four years as the program's career leader with 1,374 kills and 1,368 digs and was the first Forester to surpass the 1,000-mark in both categories. In addition, her 200 career aces are the third-highest total in team history. After earning Second Team All-MWC honors as a sophomore, she was a first team selection while serving as one of the team's co-captains each of her last two seasons. Lake Forest won three conference championships during Anderson's career and the team's 85 victories from 2000 to 2003 are the most of any four-year span in program history.

Metzger joined Anderson with at least 1,000 kills and digs later in their senior season and ranks seventh in team history in those categories with 1,076 and 1,345, respectively. She is also in the program's top 10 in career aces with 123. Metzger was named First Team All-MWC and was voted the Foresters' Most Valuable Player after leading them in kills as a junior and senior. The two-year co-captain's 408 kills in 2003 are the program's fourth-highest single-season total.

Roberts, Rezac, Anderson, and Metzger will be honored at the annual Athletic Recognition Ceremony in the morning of October 13. All four will also be featured in the Homecoming Parade and on the field at halftime of that afternoon's Homecoming football game against Cornell College.
