The Midwest Conference Softball and Men's Golf Tournaments will be played this weekend.
The Forester men's golf team was ranked first in the MWC Preseason Coaches Poll in early March and has finished ahead of each of the other five programs in the league at least once this spring. Lake Forest was tied for second at least year's conference meet and is looking to claim the first league title since the rebirth of the program in 2014. The 2017 MWC Championships will be played on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at Aldeen Golf Club in Rockford, Illinois.
St. Norbert College is the host of the 2017 MWC Softball Tournament this weekend. Lake Forest (21-14, 10-5 MWC) is the fourth-seeded team at the event and will take on the Green Knights (18-14, 15-3 MWC) in Friday's second game. The first contest in the double-elimiation tournament will feature second-place Cornell College (26-8, 14-4 MWC) and third-place Illinois College (23-10, 13-4 MWC). The losers in round one will play an elimination game later Friday afternoon and the winners will face off in the final game of the day. Two or, if necessary, three more games will be played on Saturday with the team left standing receiving the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Lake Forest is looking to win the conference tourney for the fourth year in a row and for the 10th time in team history.
