Midwest Conference play for the Forester men's tennis and softball teams begins and the men's golf team will also be in action this weekend.
The softball team will start the week with a doubleheader against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at home on Tuesday. The Foresters and Warhawks have faced off in the regular season and NCAA Division III Tournament each of the last two seasons with each team defeating the other three times. Lake Forest is 7-9 after sweeping the University of Wisconsin-Stout and falling twice at Illinois Wesleyan University last weekend. Whitewater enters the week 10-2 and ranked 21st in the nation.
The Lake Forest men's golf team will resume its season at Knox College's Prairie Fire Classic on Friday and Saturday. The team finished second in its last event, a triangular with Wisconsin Lutheran College and North Park University at Southern Pines Golf Club in North Carolina on March 14 during the Foresters' Spring Break trip. Lake Forest tied for fourth place at last year's Prairie Fire Classic.
The men's tennis team will travel south this weekend for three conference matches. The Foresters, who are 7-8 so far this spring, will play at Illinois College (0-4) on Saturday before taking on Knox College (0-9) in the morning and Monmouth College (3-8) in the afternoon on Sunday. Lake Forest posted 9-0 victories over Illinois College and Knox and a 5-4 triumph over Monmouth at home last year.
The softball team will be back in action on Sunday against visiting St. Norbert College. The Parents Day doubleheader will start the conference schedule for the Foresters, who are seeking their fourth consecutive league title. It will be the third doubleheader in five days for the Green Knights, who enter the week 1-7.
