An important home-and-home series with Marian University for the Lake Forest men's hockey team highlights another busy week in Forester Athletics.

Lake Forest and Marian will face off in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Friday night and in Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse 24 hours later. The Foresters are 9-8-0 overall and 5-7-0 and in fourth place in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association South Division standings. Marian is 9-7-1 overall and in second place in the division with a 7-5-0 mark in league play. The Foresters have a 19-12-2 edge in the all-time series between the two teams but the Sabres won both games a year ago.

The week will actually begin with basketball games Wednesday night at Lawrence University. The Forester women (3-10, 2-6 MWC) are looking rebound from a pair of losses over the weekend. Lake Forest is 50-13 all-time with 18 straight victories against the Vikings, who are 2-11 overall and winless in eight conference contests this season.

The men's game will follow the women's and will feature two of the top five teams in the league. The Foresters hosted and defeated Grinnell College 109-105 and Knox College 79-53 last weekend and are now 7-6 overall and 5-3 in the MWC. Lawrence is a game ahead of the Foresters in the conference standings and 6-6 overall. The teams split the 2015-16 season series with the road team coming out on top in both games. It will be the 88th meeting between the two programs and the Vikings hold a slight 47-40 advantage in the all-time series.

The Forester women's hockey team will also be north of the state line this week, taking on host Concordia University Wisconsin Friday and Saturday night. Lake Forest earned three points in the standings against visiting College of St. Scholastica over the weekend, winning 4-1 on Friday and skating to a 4-4 tie on Saturday. The Foresters are 13-2-1 overall and in second place in the NCHA standings with a league mark of 7-1-1. Concordia Wisconsin will enter the weekend 6-7-2 overall and 2-5-2 in the conference. Lake Forest has defeated the Falcons in each of their last five meetings and are 19-3-2 against them all-time.

The swimming and diving teams will also take on opponents from Wisconsin when they Lawrence University and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday. The three teams met at Lawrence a year ago with the Forest men posting a convincing victory over Lawrence and being edged out by Whitewater. The women also fell to Whitewater and dropped a close decision to Lawrence. This past Saturday the Lake Forest men finished third and the women fourth against high-level competition at the Illinois-Michigan Quadrangular.

The handball team will also be in action this weekend at the Illinois Handball Association State Singles Tournament. Leo Canales and Kyra Vidas posted victories in the Open Division a year ago and will look for even more success this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

After traveling to Lawrence on Wednesday, the Forester basketball team will return home looking for season series sweeps of Monmouth College on Saturday. The Lake Forest women prevailed 65-43 and the men 76-71 at Monmouth on January 4. The women are 34-12 against the Fighting Scots after winning the last four meetings. The men's teams split the two games last year and the Foresters have won 43 of 71 meetings all-time.
