This Week in Forester Athletics: November 28-December 4

The Forester hockey teams will host league opponents from the north, the basketball teams will travel to Iowa, and the swimming and diving teams will compete just north of the state line this weekend.

Lake Forest's women's basketball team will start things off with a non-conference game at Illinois Institute of Technology Monday night at 7:00. The Foresters are 1-2 so far this season after beginning Midwest Conference play with a 66-54 victory over Beloit College at home last Tuesday. Illinois Tech has dropped its first two games of the season. The Foresters took last year's meeting 64-31 and are 3-0 all-time against the Scarlet Hawks.

After a weekend off, the Forester women's hockey team will take on visiting Finlandia University Friday afternoon at 4:00 and Saturday at noon. Lake Forest is 8-2-0 overall and 4-1-0 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play this season and currently ranked eighth in the nation by USCHO.com. Finlandia is still looking for its first victory of 2016-17 after nine games overall and six in league play. The Foresters defeated the Lions 7-1 in Finlandia on November 11 and own a 30-0-3 advantage in the all-time series between the two teams.

The men's hockey team swept a non-conference series with visiting Nazareth College last weekend, prevailing 4-1 Friday night and 6-0 Saturday afternoon. The Foresters are now 7-4-0 overall and 3-3-0 in the NCHA this season and will host Northland College (3-5-1, 2-3-1 NCHA) Friday night at 7:30 and Saturday at 4:00 p.m. The teams split the 2015-16 series at Northland and Lake Forest is 7-6-1 all-time against the LumberJacks.

The women's basketball team will resume Midwest Conference play at Cornell College Friday evening at 5:30 at the team will make the short trip to Grinnell College for another league game Saturday afternoon at 1:00. Cornell and Grinnell are each 2-2 on the season and have yet to begin league play. The Rams and Pioneers each swept the Foresters last season but Lake Forest is 11-4 all-time against Cornell and 33-6 against Grinnell.

The men's basketball team will also play at Cornell and Grinnell this weekend with tip-offs scheduled for 7:30 Friday night and 3:00 on Saturday. The Foresters are 1-3 overall but 1-0 in the MWC so far this year while Cornell is 2-1 and Grinnell 2-2. Neither opponent has begun league play. Lake Forest split the 2015-16 season series with both the Rams and Pioneers and are now 13-16 all-time against Cornell and 30-32 against Grinnell.

The Forester swimming and diving team will close out the 2016 portion of its schedule at the A3 Carthage Classic on Friday and Saturday. Prelims will begin both days at 9:00 a.m. The Lake Forest men placed third out of eight teams and the women fifth out of seven at last year's meet.
