This Week in Forester Athletics: October 17-23

Four Lake Forest teams will be in action this week, including three on Farwell Field.

The soccer teams will kick off the week on Tuesday against Dominican University with the women at home and the men on the road. The teams are coming off shutout victories at Monmouth College on Sunday, the men 2-0 and the women 4-0. The Forester men are now 8-6-0 overall this season and 6-1-0 in Midwest Conference play. Their non-conference game at Dominican (10-2-2, 8-0-0 NACC) will begin at 3:00 p.m. and will be the first meeting between the two programs in a decade. The Lake Forest women's soccer team enters the week 8-6-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the league and will host the Stars (9-5-0, 5-3-0 NACC) at 4:00 p.m. The Foresters have won the last two meetings, including a 3-2 decision last year.

The Forester volleyball team (5-14, 1-5 MWC) dropped a pair of contest at the northern-most schools in the MWC last Friday and Saturday and will travel to the south end of the league for two more matches this weekend. The team will take on Illinois College (13-10, 3-4 MWC) Friday night at 7:00 and Monmouth College (6-15, 1-4 MWC) at 1:00 Saturday afternoon. Lake Forest has won seven straight matches against Illinois College and five in a row versus Monmouth.

After prevailing 35-14 at Macalester College last Saturday, the Lake Forest College football team is 5-2 overall and 3-2 in conference play. The Foresters are back at home this week against visiting Lawrence University Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The Vikings enter the week 2-4 overall and 1-3 in conference play. The teams have not played since 2013 when Lake Forest escaped Appleton, Wisconsin, with a 14-13 victory.

The soccer teams will resume Midwest Conference play against Illinois College at home on Sunday and the teams will be participating in the MWC Playing for a Cure initiative, raising funds for cancer research and awareness about the importance of early detection. The Blueboys enter the week 3-8-3 overall and 2-4-0 in the conference while the Lady Blues are 7-7-1 overall and 4-3-0 in MWC play. The men's Parents Day game will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the women's contest will follow at 1:30 p.m.
