Amy Budde and Louis-Philippe De Courcy Recognized At Senior Honors Convocation

On Thursday, May 10, Lake Forest College held the 2019 Senior Honors Convocation at the First Presbyterian Church. At this year's ceremony, forty-two seniors were recognized and of those two student-athlete honorable mentions include Amy Budde who received the Nicholas J. Wasylik Senior Athletic Award and Louis-Philippe De Courcy who was awarded the Senior Scholar/Athlete Award.

Each year, the Athletic Department dedicates the Nicholas J. Wasylik Senior Athletic Award to one athlete who embodies the positive attitude, competitive drive, and fierce determination of Nicholas Wasylik, an iconic former Athletic Director and football coach at Lake Forest College. Budde, who was selected for the award from the Director of Athletics in consultation with members of the Athletic Department, was a four-time letter winner and two-time team captain in hockey. She was a three-time member of the All-Northern Collegiate Hockey Association and a CCM Hockey/ACHA Div. III 2nd Team West All-American. Budde also led the NCHA with 21 goals and was voted the team's Most Valuable Player two times. She has been a strong and positive influence in the campus community, serving as President of Athletic Council, a Gummere Fellow and a strong leader in community service events such as Special Olympics, GLASA Sled Hockey, Ry’s Run and Feed My Starving Children. Budde will continue her hockey career at the professional level with a pro-league team in Sweden this fall.

The Athletic Department also annually presents the Scholar/Athlete Award to one student-athlete who holds the highest cumulative grade point average (GPA) in the previous three semesters (two semesters for freshmen). De Courcy earned a perfect 4.00 GPA with a challenging major in economics. He was a member of the Academic All-Northern Collegiate Hockey Association for all years he was eligible and a three-time Scholar/Athlete Award recipient. Apart from academics, De Courcy was a four-year letter winner in hockey. He was voted the team's Most Valuable Player his junior year and is the program's all-time leader in save percentage (.927) and goals against average (2.16).
