Softball Team Hosts Friends of Jaclyn Day

On Sunday, April 17th, the Lake Forest College Softball team helped to raise money for the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation. The team, who hosted a double-header series with Monmouth College, raffled off prizes during the games, hosted a homerun derby in between games, and put on a 30 minute softball hitting clinic after each game for girls ages 6-14 years old.

“We had a great turnout and I know the girls were very excited to help out this fantastic Foundation,” said softball coach Joe Kinsella.

The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation (FOJ) is a non-profit, charitable organization that improves the quality of life for children with pediatric brain tumors and their families formed in 2005. The Foundation was inspired by Jaclyn Murphy, who was diagnosed with a medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor, in March 2004 when she was nine-years-old.
