Softball player Cami Daun was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after earning a complete game 7-1 victory against Monmouth College on Sunday.
Daun, a junior, faced a Monmouth team that had yet to lose in Midwest Conference play (7-0) this season. The Fighting Scots entered the contest with a league-high .334 batting average and had been scoring more than five runs per contest. She retired the first hitter in every inning and the Scots were 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position in the first six innings before breaking up the shutout in the seventh. She scattered seven hits and three walks in the contest.
It was the third consecutive complete game for Daun and fourth in her three years on the team. However, it was her first career seven-inning victory.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
